There’s a lot happening in the world of agtech right now... and we were lucky enough to get a front row seat.

Last week we went to the UK and caught up with a fantastic group of like-minded technologists who are passionate about exploring how technology can help shape the future of agriculture.

We spent the day out in the field testing sprayers and drones, learning more about what’s possible today, the challenges still to overcome, and where we might be able to contribute in the future.

A huge thank you to Ian and the team for sharing their time, knowledge and passion with us. It was a fun, fascinating day filled with great conversations, plenty of laughs and lots of new ideas.

We came home feeling inspired, with plenty to think about and an exciting sense of what’s possible.

Nothing says summer in Piemonte quite like watermelons 🍉

One of the things we love most about summer in Piemonte is that no matter where we go, we see piles of watermelon everywhere. It’s a simple reminder that summer has arrived.

For generations, watermelon has been the refreshing reward after long, hot days in the vineyards and fields, and that love affair hasn’t faded. It’s still the fruit we share on warm evenings with family and friends.

One of our favorite ways to enjoy it at our winery is in a salad with salty feta, fresh mint, and a drizzle of good olive oil. We love to pair it with a chilled glass of our Arneis. The wine’s bright citrus and delicate floral notes lift the sweetness of the watermelon, while its crisp acidity beautifully balances the creamy feta.

It’s fresh, vibrant, and tastes exactly like a Piemontese summer.

There’s something magical about sunflower season in Piemonte. 🌻

Sunflowers have been part of our agricultural landscape here for generations. They are an important crop for producing sunflower oil, animal feed and supporting biodiversity.

Today they’re as much a part of our Piemontese summer as vineyards and hazy golden evenings.

But this year’s heat wave has been relentless. The intense temperatures are pushing the flowers to bloom and fade much faster than usual, with many already bowing their heads long before summer is over. It’s a beautiful reminder of just how closely nature follows the rhythm of the seasons...

For now, we’ll enjoy every golden field while it lasts. Because in Piemonte, even a drive to the next village can feel like a postcard this time of year. 💛🌻

What’s on the table in our winery this week? One of our summer favourites - zucchini and Arneis.

If June had a flavour in Piemonte, this would be it. Right now, zucchini are everywhere in Italy, and one of our favourite ways to enjoy them is stuffed zucchini flowers.

And if we’re pouring a wine alongside, it’s almost always Arneis.

The delicate floral notes of Arneis mirror the zucchini flowers beautifully, while its fresh acidity cuts through the richness of the filling without overpowering the dish. It’s one of those pairings that feels completely effortless.

Simple seasonal ingredients. Local wine. A long lunch outside.

When we planted our vineyard, choosing native Piemonte varieties wasn’t a romantic decision. It was a practical one.

These vines have spent generations adapting to this landscape. They’ve lived through droughts, wet seasons, heat, cold, changing weather patterns and everything in between. They know this place far better than we ever will.

Low intervention farming doesn’t mean doing less.
 It means paying attention to everything. 🌱

At this time of year, humidity in the vineyard can quickly create the perfect conditions for disease. Because we don’t rely on herbicides or heavy chemical intervention, we have to work even closer with the land — watching the vines daily, managing airflow, maintaining balance, and mechanically cutting the undergrowth beneath the rows.

This is the reality of sustainable vineyard farming in Piemonte: more observation, more care.

The grasses and cover crops between the vines are not “weeds” to us. They help regenerate soil health, support biodiversity, control vine vigour, and naturally nourish the vineyard. But they must also be carefully maintained so they don’t trap excess humidity or compete too aggressively with the vines.
 In our vineyards every pass through the rows is about prevention, balance, and respect for the ecosystem — all to grow healthier grapes with as little intervention as possible.

This is farming with nature, not against it. 🍇

The Slow Food movement and the dedication of our local farmers helped save our local artichoke from disappearing forever…
 This weekend our home village, Costigliole d’Asti celebrated our local artichoke and through the stories shared we now understand why locals fought so hard to protect it.

The Carciofo del Sorì is unlike any artichoke we’ve tasted before — thornless, incredibly tender, naturally sweet, and shaped by the same sun-drenched hills that produce some of Piemonte’s greatest wines.

For generations, local families planted them alongside the vineyards, creating a tradition deeply connected to the land. But industrial farming nearly wiped this ancient variety out. Faster-growing commercial crops replaced many local traditions, and with them, part of the region’s agricultural identity almost disappeared.

Walking through the festival this weekend, sharing food, wine, and stories with locals, you could feel the pride in preserving something so deeply tied to these hills.
We tasted artichoke flan, crispy fritters and raw shaved carciofi over carne cruda — simple dishes that somehow tell the story of Piemonte village better than words ever could.

This is what we love most about life here: traditions protected because they still matter to the people who call this place home.
